Robert specialises in trade mark matters, advising clients across a full spectrum of industries and market sectors. With a background that combines intellectual property law, international branding and marketing, he provides specialist advice on both the legal and commercial aspects of new and existing products.
Previously with the specialist creative arm of a major London firm of trade mark and patent attorneys, Robert has been closely involved in developing numerous well-known brands, including the London Eye for British Airways, international vehicle ranges for General Motors and Sainsbury’s own-label lines. He has broadcast on branding and trade mark topics in the UK, US and South Africa.
Born in the Outer Hebrides, Robert was educated at Glasgow - where he took his M.A. - Paris and Edinburgh, studying modern languages, European and Classical literature and international marketing. He holds the Diploma of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, as well as the Diplôme Supérieur of the Paris International Chamber of Commerce.
One thing you may be interested to know about Robert is that he is passionate about the works of Shakespeare: being particularly interested in the Sonnets, he finds it pleasing when a piece of copy is arranged across 14 lines.
