Nick is often asked to assist in advising clients with the preparation and negotiation of compromise agreements and is therefore particularly well acquainted with the issues arising from them. He acts for clients in a wide range of industries, including facilities management, engineering, telecommunications, cosmetics, PR, fashion, leisure and entertainment, I.T., finance and banking, insurance, etc. as well as having an in-depth knowledge of the recruitment industry. As a result Silverman Sherliker has been chosen as one of the REC's panel of recommended lawyers.

His employment practice consists of advising clients on both contentious and non-contentious issues, including the drafting of employment contracts and service agreements, disciplinary procedures and company policy documentation generally. He has been involved in a number of reported cases, including Reiner Moritz Associates Ltd -v- Carter [EAT] ICR 1997.

Nick has also over the years assisted a number of clients who have been investigated and prosecuted in connection with breaches of health and safety laws. He is regularly asked to comment on live employment tribunal cases and employment law issues generally and has appeared on television broadcasts given by Channel 4 News and CNN, as well as having been interviewed for Radio 4's the Today Programme and several programmes for Radio 5 Live.

He has written for a number of publications including the REC Legal Bulletin, Recruitment Matters, Recruitment Consultant, Recruitment Opportunities, Leisure Report, Payroll World as well as other industry related publications. Nick has also been asked to provide comments for articles appearing in The Sunday Times, The Times and The Evening Standard. He is a member of several professional organisations including the Employment Lawyers' Association and the British Italian Law Association.

Nick is a London School of Economics law graduate and was admitted as a solicitor in 1990. After leaving McKenna & Co (now CMS Cameron McKenna) he moved to The Simkins Partnership. From a broad commercial litigation background his practice focused on employment law. He joined Silverman Sherliker as a partner in 1998 and has developed a thriving Employment Law Unit.

One thing you may be interested to know about Nick is that he has for some years held the position of Honorary Secretary in the Law Society’s Duplicate Bridge Club.
