In addition to practising law, Jonathan has held a number of non-executive directorships in both the service and software industries.
He is a regular contributor to the Solicitor's Journal and Lawyer magazine, appeared on BBC TV on the subject of law and advertising, Asil Nadir’s repatriation and shortly will feature in A BBC TV programme about solicitors.
He has contributed to legal training videos and spoken at an International Symposium on trade mark law in New York. He lectures regularly on preparing businesses for sale or succession and on the application of technology to legal practices, as well as being a visiting lecturer at Central St Martins on IP.
After a couple of years as a partner in Alexanders, building a commercial department, he set up the practice in 1981 with the key objective of creating a City Firm focusing on providing practical commercial advice to business clients. Within 18 months the firm handled a public offering and Jonathan has continued to take an active interest in nurturing developing businesses. He has been an adviser to the London Enterprise Agency and Hoxton Bibliotech which assists start -up businesses in the technology sector. He has been a prime mover in the firm's involvement in Business Network a London based business networking group and international growth and is actively involved in developing Fidelis, an association of independent law firms worldwide. He represents the firm on IPG an international association of lawyers and accountants. He is an advisor to the City of London School’s Entrepreneurs Club.
He is a fellow of the Institute of International Licencing Practitioners, sits on their national executive as their compliance officer and represents the Institute on IPAN.
Jonathan was educated at the City of London School, the University of Westminster and College of Law London. He trained with Ingledew Brown Bennison & Garrett, a leading City shipping practice, before working at Taylor & Humbert where he specialised in Commercial Law.
One thing you may be interested to know about Jonathan is that he has an overriding passion for British sports cars of the period 1950-1970, Yard-o-Led propelling pencils and Rollei cameras.
